HAPPY FAT TUESDAY EVERYONE!
In honor of Fat Tuesday, I decided to try a new bakery for my new Fat Tuesday obsession... The Paczki. With several locations located around and within the city and lots of excellent recommendations, I went ahead and choose Oak Mill Bakery as this year's place to try.
I will say that I was extremely pleased with the variety of paczkis they make and also the customer service they offer. In fact, because of a friend's allergy, they made special paczkis without the pistachio or any other nut garnish that top some of the others. I did find these paczkis to be a little more airy and more bread-like rather than the fried doughnut type that I have had in the past. They were also topped with a glaze or powdered sugar, not the crystalized sugar that was overwhelming last year. Honestly, there is a paczki for everyone--fruit filled ranges from apricot to lemon. And, of course, they have cream-filled and chocolate covered ones too. The location was the main knock on its overall rating. It may be a little bit of a trek to make it out to one of Oak Mill Bakery's locations, but it is definitely worth the trip!
(The rest of the bakery options... huge variety of cakes and pastries)
How far would I walk for this food?
